Air-Medics of NWF offers seven energy conservation tips to help homeowners save money this cooling season. In an effort to help consumers combat high utility bills this summer, Air-Medics provides this consumer awareness release to advise homeowners on seven ways to conserve energy and save money. -
Tip 1 - Set your temperature on your thermostat a little higher. Most people can be comfortable with a setting of 77-79 degrees Fahrenheit. Each degree above 77 will save on average of 6-8% on your cooling costs. -
Tip 2 - If you are leaving for the day; turn up your thermostat a couple degrees. Do not turn off, just adjust up a degree or two. Your system works best when it maintains a steady temperature, instead of making large adjustments. A programmable thermostat combines convenience with energy conservation. -
Tip 3 - Check, clean or change all filters on your heating and air conditioning system. This should be done every 30 days. A clogged and dirty filter can cause airflow problems and can result in a system breakdown. -
Tip 4 - Semi Annual service and maintenance of your HVAC system can reduce the operating costs as much as 20%, extend the life of your system, and enhance the quality of your indoor air. Plus most warranties require this maintenance; not doing it could void your warranty. -
Tip 5 - Have your air ducts inspected by a professional company for leaks, cracks, and debris. All of these things can lead to inefficient air flow in your HVAC system causing greater energy consumption. -
Tip 6 - Use ceiling fans or portable fans to help supplement your air conditioning. A fan can make you feel three to five degrees cooler so you can set your thermostat a few degrees higher. -
Tip 7 - When investing in a new air conditioning system; consider the most efficient cooling systems. Contact Us to find out how we can help you with these energy saving tips!
